Why I Use Squarespace

My first experience building my own website was a common one.

I knew I wanted to post my portfolio and contact information online, but was a little overwhelmed by WordPress at the time and had only dabbled in Blogger with some random blog posts several years prior.

Learning code scared me because I wasn't sure I could learn all of that in a few hours. Yet I knew the internet wasn’t going away any time soon, and the thought of booking out-of-town clients was exciting to me. Luckily, a friend and design colleague told me about Squarespace and my world changed. Over the years, I've learned so much about this website platform and now I can even read basic coding and CSS (cascading style sheets)!

Here are 5 reasons why I love Squarespace and encourage all my entrepreneur clients to use it too:

Simple, pretty templates

Squarespace makes it easy to browse through several of their designs before choosing a favorite. Then you can go in and easily modify it with your own art, copy, pages, information, social links, photography, colors, etc.

Easy to use and easy to modify

Squarespace is so user-friendly that you can upload content with ease -- even after I set it up for you. After the full design is set up, I’ll show you how to change information, populate your blog, and upload images on your own.

Formats correctly for desktop, mobile, and tablet

Having a responsive site is absolutely crucial. When a website doesn't load correctly on my phone, I immediately click out of it. Have you ever done the same? I don’t want that to happen to you and your business! Perhaps the best benefit of using Squarespace is that it formats your site correctly for ALL devices, no matter where your audience is viewing it from.

Not too expensive

A basic informational or portfolio site is very affordable for anyone to set up. Now that Squarespace allows you to purchase your domain (and/or Gmail business email) through them as well, all your payment information is in one handy place -- and you only have to use one login.

Great customer service

After building several sites using Squarespace, I've learned that their customer service team members are so very helpful. They always point me in the right direction. I'm also able to collaborate with other designers to find an answer or design edit (code) I'm looking for through their support forum.
